Welcome to the DAWGHouse!

Welcome and thanks for visiting the DAWGHouse!. Everyone has to have an inspiration or two, in our house it's four (six at one time) - all of them DAWGS! The creation of our company, FatDAWGS.com was inspired by our dogs (rather DAWGS)... even though we work hard in our business, doing iPhone/iTouch App development, website design and other work, we still give time to our dawgs. This blog is for those who love dawgs. Feel free to poke around, read about our philosophy and our family of dawgs!

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Remembering our beloved friends and companions.

We miss you guys!

Allison

We believe Allison was a Rottweiler/Airedale mix. She was rescued from the pound at about 2 years of age. No one really knows how old she was. Abused and broken spirited, she joined the family becoming a one man dog. Anywhere Jay was, Allison was there with him for the next 10 years. Weighing in at 100 lbs., Allison was aslo known as Big Dog, Big Butt and when she was in trouble, Allison Ann ....

Elizabeth

We got Liz back in the day. I was working at a lumber yard, and found two puppies in a corner of the yard. I took the puppies up to the main building. Since I was riding my Harley that day, I asked the guys to keep an eye on them while I went home to get my truck. When I got back, the owner of the lumber yard had already taken the puppies to the animal shelter. Sigh, nobody listens I thought.

When I got to the animal shelter, the puppies were there, but when Elizabeth saw me, she started yelping and tried to climb the fence to get out. Obviously, I'd been chosen. So, home we went. In 17 great years, she never gave me reason to cuss her. Well, almost no reason. Liz loved to run.

Every once in a while, she'd get a scent and be off running. I'd stand there and watch the grass swaying where she was running as she just bounded through. My saving grace was that she'd come running when I rolled up and honked the horn. Don't want to miss out on a ride. Liz also loved Dairy Queen vanilla soft serve and iced tea (just like Dad apparently).

Liz was just too stubborn to leave us, and I guess she hasn't left really. We think of her often and smile.

Charlie just recently left us to visit with the girls. Jill had to take her Jack to the vet to have a tumor removed. The vet asked if she knew anyone that would like a dalmation. The previous owners had to move back east, and could not take Charlie with them. The vet had been Charlie's doctor since he was a pup, and at 6 years old, she could not let him be turned over to the shelter. Jill mentioned it to me, and well Charlie spent his next 7 years with us.

Charlie

Now, Charlie is his own man. Like Elizabeth, he liked to run. One time, Jay's mother looked out the front window of the house, and saw a dalmation running down the street - thinking, that dog looks an awful like Charlie.. low and behold it was! Luckily, he likes his car rides too. One toot of the horn, and he was hoping into the back seat. It took a couple times of this happening, and many sweeps of the back fence to try and figure out how he was getting out.. well, the mystery was solved when Charlie was witnessed jumping on top of the bed, and flying out the open window that was above the headboard! It was at least an 8 foot drop from the window to the ground.

See you at Rainbow Bridge guys. Have a great time chasing rabbits and deer in the Big Sky.

FatDAWGS Filosophy!

  • Always be grateful for the gifts you receive. Bath day? Be grateful that your human loves and cares enough.
  • Human philosophers love to ask "How do you know you're not asleep right now?". Take a nap in the sunshine just to be sure.
  • All treats are good. Treats are relative. Steak beats meat flavored snacks every time. But, peanut butter snacks beat peanut butter because the snacks don't stick to the roof of your mouth.
  • Every day is a new adventure. New smells, new colors, new friends. Greet each day with lots of tail-wagging.
  • A pat from your human is a special moment. All moments are special. Give your full attention to each moment.
  • Each day has accomplishments both large and small. Find satisfaction and reward in each.
  • Find your purpose. Human companion, herding cattle, or another. It doesn't matter. It only matters that you pursue your life purpose with love and enthusiasm.
